Other Side Group (Founded by Kate Brodook, Goizueta MBA 08′) have an interesting post about engaging alumni in social media.
It follows the list in Mashable about 10 Ways Universities Are Engaging Alumni
Emory runs its fund raising campaign on twitter (@thebluepig) and facebook (http://www.facebook.com/thebluepig) and has a user for information about the university (@EmoryUniversity) and for the alumni (@EmoryAlumni).
On LinkedIn and facebook there are a few groups of Goizueta and Emory, which were created by users and not by the school. Emory also runs its fund raising campaign on facebook.
I wrote my 2 cents about it in this post.

Thanks Yaniv! I won’t go into depth, but I think it’s really interesting that a lot of schools are starting out with fundraising efforts on social media, as opposed to reaching current students or alumni and building a strong community of those constituents. We feel that’s the better (best?) way to create more connected students and alumni, which will ultimately make your fundraising efforts that much more successful.
Cheers,
Kate
